Naixiang Gao is a PhD student at HKU. He previously worked in the UK at Foster + Partners and UH-Architects and holds a Master of Architecture in Urban Design (Distinction) from University College London. He led the design of the Kean mixed-use project in Cyprus, and contributed to the Hyundai’s headquarter, Global Business Complex in South Korea, Cleveland Clinic campus planning in the US, and Honda’s headquarters in Japan. His current research involves training machine-learning models on images extracted from social media that are algorithmically assessed as having high emotional value, to translate users’ visual data into interactive 3D models. His research interests include, but are not limited to, improving residents’ experiences in vertical cities through machine learning and robotic devices.
